Project Detail

Project is located around Akdağ village of Dumlu district within Erzurum city which is inside Upper Euphrates Basin. The Yayla, Kırkgöze and Bekirhalife diversion weirs designed at 2300.0 m M.S.L are equipped with special design Coanda screens with 1.0 mm openings which are resistant against freezing under severe winter conditions. There exist no settling basins for each weir. During winter and late autumn access to weir locations is impossible therefore Coanda screen leads to continuous operation without any discontinuity caused by freezing.

Diverted creek flow is transferred to underground headpond by buried corrugated polyethylene pipelines where flow velocities are higher than 3.0 m/s. The 700 mm diameter 1145.0 m length penstock is also buried. There exist two horizontal two jet Pelton turbines manufactured by TEMSAN inside power house where total installed power is 4.10 MW. The axes of runners are designed at 1932.00 m M.S.L.

All the major components of the project were designed underground and the main aim of the design was to minimize destruction of natural scene. Dumlu project is a good sample for a small hydro power design.
